We are relief managers based in Queensland and we charge between $250.00 and $300.00 per day per couple (non-GST registered). This is usually based on duties and number of rooms.
We have to charge that as, and we agree with other comments on here, that sometimes the owners are not quite truthful when they say that they’re ‘only open from 8am until 8pm and we we are really quiet and get very few breakfasts to cook’. We have been caught out with that and a telephone that seemed to ring 24 hours a day, 25 breakfasts a day and nowhere to cook them in!
We will carry out any duties asked of us (and always go above and beyond these) including wages, MYOB etc etc etc but draw the line at renovating a motel as many owners have asked us to do tasks that are way above what a relief manager SHOULD be doing. Don’t forget that at a minimum of $250.00 per day that equates to approximately $8.50 per hour per person in the average motel. We never ask for food and would only ask for a small travel allowance if we’d been asked to go to a place (rather than us seeking out work).
    Hope this helps.
